19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He saved four initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
